... may not always be what you expect. After all a cauliFLOWER is still a flower!
And this is a leek gone to flower:
Dill about to flower:
But this sunflower has gone over:
Even weeds can be pretty:
Feverfew:
And some sort of thistle:
And my more traditional miniature dahlias are still hanging in there!
What flowers have you still got in your garden as we reach mid October? I am sure there will still be plenty to be seen on everyone joining in with Annie's How Does Your Garden Grow linky over at Manneskjur.
I've never seen a leek's flower... it's so so pretty!
ReplyDeleteAny plant from the onion family, like leek or garlic, will put up this type of flower in either purple or white if you leave it long enough. And the bees love them!
DeleteI love this, so true that flowers come in all different forms.
ReplyDeleteOur garden is rather blurgh to be honest, might have a peek out there later to see if anything is clinging on
Those flowers that do hang on though are all the more beautiful because of their tenacity.
DeleteOh, I agree. There are many beautiful flowers around us if we look for them. And not dimly the one's we cultivate as flowers either :)
ReplyDeleteI don't grow many flowers so have to rely on wild ones and weeds ... or the odd flowery vegetable!
Deleteoh, i love the miniature dahlias!! we just planted some tomatoes and other veggies and herbs :)
ReplyDeleteAs our veg growing draws to a close, yours just begins!
DeleteWe don't have a great deal of flowers left now, some geraniums and a few late roses on the yellow rose bush in the front garden. My Autumn/Winter flowering heathers are just starting to flower - mostly pinks and whites. Nice photos!
ReplyDeleteMerci :)
DeleteWe have just lost the last of our sunflowers thanks to high winds and rain :-( lovely pictures x #HDYGG
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kirsty and sorry about the sunflowers.
Deletelove your veggie flowers! the leeks especially!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteWe still have a few wild roses, but that's about it :) Lovely to see some colour! #HDYGG
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteYour garden is still looking pretty lush, I especially like those miniature dahlias.
ReplyDeleteMe too - they are so pretty.
DeleteLovely to see all the coloured flowers in Autumn :) looks very pretty ..
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteHey, cauliflowers pretty and they're healthy! they're the kind of flowers that I really love!
ReplyDeletebut I love that shot of the thistle. ♥
... and of course we even eat some of the thistle family too.
DeleteLooking good - our fuschias are still out, both the hardy and the non-hardy ones. I guess they're just having too much fun to stop flowering right now x
ReplyDeleteI Have a few hanging on in there too.
