This is my blog, A Green and Rosie Life, which is all about helping you live life that bit greener without having to build an off-grid log cabin in the woods or knit your own nettle fibre undies! It's about helping you make simple changes that together will make a big difference to our beautiful world and make it a better place for our children.
Is this flowering NOW? We've got odd flowers out down in the south, ones that are not meant to be blooming at this time of year so I wonder if this should or shouldn't be out? It's pretty whether it's meant to be or not!
ReplyDeleteYup, flowering now which is not at all unusual but I am not going to say what it is yet to see who else might know. I will say though that it has something to do with kissing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Cant wait for flowering season here. x
ReplyDeleteRebecca - This one can flower all year round :)
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful, such a gorgeous colour
ReplyDeleteThank you Em - do you know what plant it is or what it has to do with kissing?
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful and sunny :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Reading Residence - we have managed some sunshine between the showers!
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have such a beautiful flower growing. It's a bit bleak here. I don't know what it is either :-)
ReplyDeleteRachel - if you go to any moorlands and many wastelands you may well see this plant in flower .... but I'm hanging on a bit longer before naming it to see if anyone knows what it is or what that elusive connection to kissing might be!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely bright flower!
ReplyDeleteThank you Colette. I am hoping it is cheering for people on this otherwise rather dreary Sunday. Do you have a link to your blog?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Gorse Bush that we have all over the moors here in Cornwall that is seen most of the year round - hence the saying, "Kissing is out of fashion when Gorse is out of blossom".
ReplyDeleteI think it is gorse, but have not a clue what it has to do with kissing.
ReplyDeleteJam Lady
So beautiful and bright x
ReplyDeleteYes, Jam Lady and Fiona, it is gorse and as you said Fiona, kissing is out of fashion when the gorse isn't in bloom ... but as this is a flower that blooms every month of the year kissing is never out of fashion!
ReplyDelete@Kim - it is bright isn't it - just the tonic for a grey day don't you think!
so beautifully bright, just what is needed on a gloomy winter day x
ReplyDeleteLovely picture - makes me hopeful for spring!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly HPMcQ :) Have a great week x
ReplyDelete@Sarah - I too am hopeful for spring but suspect winter is far from finished with us yet. Mind you I did get in the garden today which made a very pleasant change. even if I was spreading manure!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! Gorse bushes always make me think of the Famous Five, I'm sure they featured in many of their adventures though can't think what for!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous - makes me dream of the Spring time. I think everyone is! One of the petals looks like a little bird (unless I'm just super tired and seeing things!)
ReplyDelete@LearnerMother - I'm not sure if gorse is mentioned in the Famous 5 books or not. I was an avid reader of them but can't remember. I can ask No 1 son though as he has also read them and a lot more recently than me!
ReplyDelete@Charly - gorse does act as a great herald for spring, even though it flowers throughout the year. There is nothing more brightening than a bank of gorse on a warm spring day ... and apparently you can make a very nice wine from the petals ... although I don't fancy picking them! Looking like birds? I'm not too sure - I'll have a look next time I see them!
ReplyDeleteOh, lovely and bright and cheery! Thank you very much for sharing!
ReplyDelete@Rachel - bright I think is the word people have most used to describe this gorse in bloom ... hopefully I have brightened up everyone's day then :)
ReplyDeleteSilence has a way to enhance our senses. Your lovely picture for us to ponder while in the midst of winter is a message of hope inspiring others to expect beautiful things ahead. Thanks for sharing such beauty!
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting Delmy - let's hope the future really is full of beautiful things!
ReplyDeleteLovely, is this yellow gorse?
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed Sarah!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you HodgePodgeDays - I saw an even more spectacular flowering gorse walking the dogs earlier in the week but didn't have my camera.
