I don't know about you but I love unusual facts.  I have collected a fair few animal related ones and thought I would share them with you here today.

  • The bullfrog is the only animal that never sleeps.
  • An alligator can go through 2000-3000 teeth in a lifetime.
  • An African termite can live up to 50 years.
  • Some moths survive by drinking the salty tears of cattle.
  • A bloodhound is the only animal whose evidence is admissible in an American court.

  • In France it is forbidden to call a pig Napoleon.
  • The average garden snail has a top speed of 0.03 miles per hour.
  • An elephant's ear can weigh 45kgs
  • Fish can cough

And finally a fascinating fact about one of my favourite animals:

  • The stomach of an adult hippopotamus is 3m long :)
