Flower Power

Posted by Rosie

I love nothing more than having my hands covered in the soil from my vegetable patch.

Even more than that, I love seeing Ben's hands covered in the same soil as he helps me sow seeds!

Sowing flower seeds

This time it is flower seeds and we are setting up our flower area at one end of the veg patch:

  • It will look lovely
  • It will attract bees
  • It will give us cut flowers to put in the gite to welcome guests.

Flower patch - September 2012

Do you have any flower favourites you like to sow every year.  Do let us know!

  1. I absolutely agree with your opening sentence. Earth covered hands are a sign of a busy time in the garden and promise of good things to come. We grow cut flowers, but I also grow lots of lavender and camomile which the bees love. Lovely idea to grow your own flowers for the gite. Nice touch.

    1. Thank you Cheryl - it's a good job I'm not precious about my nails! I have just bought a new lavender as ours did not survive the winter.

  4. It's always lovely to have an extra pair of willing hands in the garden. We have so many of wonderful varieties of flowers that already grow around Coombe I tend to use the greenhouse for herbs, fruits and vegetables. Once I can claim my greenhouse back from being a kid nursery I will get planting. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
