The Eco-Gites Blog

We have decided to create a blog as a diary/update of our new life and venture in France. Why? Well, as we are sure you are aware, we have failed miserably in doing updates on the website or by email. Hopefully this will keep you up to date with our project and give us a diary of our life in Calvados

We are not committing ourselves to a daily blog but will make regular updates and also look back at what we have done in the past six months. We will add photos, with luck showing before and after works, maybe video, useful links and a look at things and events in the area we have chosen to set up Eco-Gites.

If you have any comments or ideas to help us with our project please do let as know. Also if you feel we should add something to our blog or maybe you wish to see how a project is developing and we have not given you an update please again let us know and we will try to oblige.

  1. I haven't seen that photo before, is it the other side of the house or is it before you got the gite up and running, I can't work it out.

    1. It's our house as it was when we arrived in France and the open door to the left is now the front door of the gite.

  2. I imagine you're both very proud of how far your blog has come. The gîte looks great.

    1. This is actually our house and what was to become the gite is the barn and open door to the left of the photo!

    1. Thank you for joining in. It all started with Phoebe and I chatting about polo, believe it or not, which led her to point out how long I had been blogging for. I had been planning changing the blog for ages but doing so on the 8th birthday of my first post seemed too good an opportunity to miss and that got me thinking about seeing both how long other people had been blogging for and what their first post was like. So the linky idea was born a few days before I relaunched!

  6. I bet this seems like a lifetime ago now? Who knew what the blog would become. Loving the look back over the years though.

    1. Me too :) In some ways the first blog post seems an age ago but in others it is like last year.

    1. Thank you - you'd best keep reading the blog then! The gite has been open since 2010 and we have welcomed over 100 families from about 15 different countries since then.

  10. I can't even imagine what 8 years in the future would be like and I can barely remember 8 years in the past, it must be great to look back and read it all via your blog. Here's to another 8 years of blogging!

I love receiving comments and I do read every one but if you are simply here to spam me with a link, guess what ... I won't publish it.
