This is my blog, A Green and Rosie Life, which is all about helping you live life that bit greener without having to build an off-grid log cabin in the woods or knit your own nettle fibre undies! It's about helping you make simple changes that together will make a big difference to our beautiful world and make it a better place for our children.
Our local reservoir became silted up and of no use as a source of water so it has been drained and the dam is being demolished with some VERY big diggers being used :)
I can't really imagine what that digger's doing but I recognise the horrible bit on the end that makes the worst noise, breaking rocks , so I reckon whatever it's doing, it's noisy.
It is demolishing the dam and the boys and I sneaked into the work site to get these photos on Saturday when no-one was working. Yes, I imagine it is very noisy when it is hammering away. Luckily we live out of earshot.
It will be reverted back to valley bottom with a river running through it. They have diverted the river, temporarily, to allow the demolition work and we presume it will be reinstated once they are finished. The reservoir was too silted to be functional and no longer providing the drinking water it was built to give.
Okay Rosie - what are you building? You grow the most amazing fruit and vegetables already!
ReplyDeleteLOL - not me and not building. The local dam is being demolished with some seriously big machinery involved!
DeleteHe does look scarily close to the edge there!
ReplyDeletePossibly not quite as close as it looks.
DeleteNow that's an interesting shot! Is it a dam being built or repaired?
ReplyDeleteNeither - it is being demolished.
DeleteThat's intriguing! I have no idea what's going on there.

DeleteGosh what's going on there Rosie?
ReplyDeleteDam demolition in the valley a few kilometres away from us.

DeleteOoo what's going on here, is it your project?
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
No, although Simon would absolutely LOVE to drive a digger like that. Dam demolition might well be on his bucket list ;)
DeleteI wonder what is happening? Looks like a dam of some kind to me #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteYes, Victoria, it is a dam but it is being knocked down.
DeleteVery intriguing, what is happening here x
ReplyDeleteDam demolition .. which does rather sound like I am swearing LOL.
DeleteLooks like a big project! I can already imagine my son stalking the workers if something like this would happen here =P #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteLOL - it' hard to stop there when they are working as there are so many lorries now, full of mud and rubble, coming in and out of the site.
DeleteWill there be more water once it's demolished Rosie? I know it sounds like a mad question as my brain is saying of course there will!!!
ReplyDeleteI read your comment about sneaking in - tut tut :)

DeleteFeel like shouting 'Stop!! You're going to go over!'
ReplyDeleteLooks quite close in the picture but I am guessing he wasn't
Possibly quite a lot less close than this angle makes it look.
DeleteThat is a big project! And that digger looks a bit precarious!
ReplyDeleteI drove passed today, just a week after I took this photo and the dam is now completely gone!
