ReplyDeleteOur local reservoir became silted up and of no use as a source of water so it has been drained and the dam is being demolished with some VERY big diggers being used :)

DeleteI can't really imagine what that digger's doing but I recognise the horrible bit on the end that makes the worst noise, breaking rocks , so I reckon whatever it's doing, it's noisy.
ReplyDeleteIt is demolishing the dam and the boys and I sneaked into the work site to get these photos on Saturday when no-one was working. Yes, I imagine it is very noisy when it is hammering away. Luckily we live out of earshot.

ReplyDeleteLOL - it' hard to stop there when they are working as there are so many lorries now, full of mud and rubble, coming in and out of the site.

It will be reverted back to valley bottom with a river running through it. They have diverted the river, temporarily, to allow the demolition work and we presume it will be reinstated once they are finished. The reservoir was too silted to be functional and no longer providing the drinking water it was built to give.
