It will do more harm than good in the battle to get imperfect fruit back on the supermarket shelves.A Green and Rosie Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02501989987736281707noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2878260668698530448.post-6258185993992583612015-02-26T07:50:19.215+01:002015-02-26T07:50:19.215+01:00That's lovely to hear (the potatoes and seeds ...That's lovely to hear (the potatoes and seeds rather than the poor quality ugly veg). I look forward to hearing how your veg grows. It's too wet for me to do much outside still but I am getting on better in the polytunnel now. Whilst I applaud this scheme maybe the supermarkets would be better off buying the ugly veg and using it in processed food whilst gradually changing our perceptions of what is a good vegetable to eat.A Green and Rosie Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02501989987736281707noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2878260668698530448.post-60978170403771785052015-02-25T17:59:59.314+01:002015-02-25T17:59:59.314+01:00One of my favourite TV shows highlighted this subj...One of my favourite TV shows highlighted this subject too recently and supermarkets promised to look into rejecting less produce. It's food, surely the taste is more important than the look? Most of it's getting chopped up before it makes it to the plate anyway. I hate the way that supermarkets have conned us all into buying 'perfect' fruit and veg. Anyone who grows their own knows that nothing comes out perfect all the time. But what you describe above is not good. 'Ugly' produce is one thing but mouldy and poor quality is another. You'll be pleased to know that after reading your last garden post we were in the garden centre at the weekend buying potatoes and seeds. Firstly the waste of all of these less than perfect vegetables is a huge problem and something that should be addressed with so many people not eating veg because it is so expensive. Secondly, the price does need to be significantly cheaper for people to buy it, surely any money made is a positive for a product that is otherwise being thrown away Stressy Mummyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01648645800763862401noreply@blogger.com
