Going Green #8 - July 2017

Welcome to Going Green.  This is the place to promote all your green, sustainable, environmental, seasonal, local, organic, fair trade, ethical etc posts ... basically any post that helps or inspires readers to preserve and improve our beautiful world.  If you are not sure what posts would be good or need some ideas have a look here where you'll find all the details about the linky >>> Going Green Linky.

Let's Ditch Single Use Plastic - Plastic Free July!

Last month The Marine Conservation Society ran their #PlasticChallenge which really managed to focus my mind on what plastic (especially single use) we use as a family.  This month the theme is continued through Plastic Free July where we are asked to choose to refuse single-use plastic during July.  Will you give it a go?  As a family we are gradually reducing single use plastic but we still do have a long way to go.  This was my shopping trolley this week:

There are still rather too many plastic lids and the toothbrushes are made from plastic and plastic wrapped but I am the lookout for non plastic alternatives. The pasta came in a cardboard box but it did have a small plastic window (I need to make my own!). 2 of the wine bottles have screw tops but the others may have plastic corks.  I normally get fruit juice in glass bottles but the 2 tetrapaks were in the bargain bucket at a very cheap price. Tetrapaks contain some plastic which can be recycled but the process uses more energy than creating new ones. So not an ideal environmental choice but a better one for my pocket.

How is your shopping trolley - can you reduce how much single use plastic it contains?

My picks from June 2017

Thank you to everyone who linked up last month and it is lovely to see so many bloggers adding green posts - together we can spread our message far and wide!  As ever it is really hard for me to choose favourites but these were three I really liked - Ever Change Productions showed us how to use those annoying produce nets by making Eco-Friendly Dish Scrubber Ideas; the 11 ideas for a gorgeous green wedding from Growing Wild Roots made a lovely read and the fabulous way Pillar Box Blue upcycled an old drawer into a chic shelf unit was inspirational.

Going Green is a subject I believe in with a passion I hope, that with your help, this little linky will go from strength to strength.  Please link up to 3 posts, old or new and let's work together to spread the word that Going Green is both important but also easy.  Please promote the linky on all your social media channels and amongst all your friends. Thank you 💚.

Before you link up may I just remind you of 2 of the "rules":

  • Please can you include my badge (preferably) or a link back to A Green and Rosie Life.
  • This is a blog link so in order for us all to benefit please comment on a minimum of three other blogs in the link up, ideally including the one in front of you, one my host posts and one other ... the more you comment the more others are likely to visit your blog.

If you share your posts using the hashtag #GoingGreenLinky and I will RT you etc.  I will also add posts with suitabe vertical pins to my Going Green Linky board on Pinterest.
